The World War II Days event at Midway Village Museum in Rockford, IL is one of the largest WWII reenactment events in the United States. Each year more than 1,000 reenactors, about 70 WWII vehicles, and about 9,000 spectators attend the annual event.
Visitors to World War II Days engage in elaborate 1940s displays in historical buildings and campsites on the museum’s 148-acre campus, which becomes the backdrop of a European village during World War II. Battle reenactments include skits in the village's downtown, realistic small unit action scenarios in dense woods, and a large-scale armored battle and infantry assault with pyrotechnics at the main battlefield. The main battlefield also includes an exhibit of permanent entrenchments and bunkers.
